What's the Dirty Hot Lap all about:
You may have taken part in a Time Trial or seen one in the Tour de France, well this is nothing like that – we won’t have tarmac, dual carriageways, roundabouts, overly smooth looking bikes, talk of aero watts, chat about frontal area and certainly no unusually shaped helmets! Instead, we’ll have a wicked mountain bike course, a hot seat, a bar in the finish area, you giving it the berries for a lap, some camping (as long as you bring your tent) and probably some music!
What’s the plan, you get you’re entry in, we’ll send you a rider briefing pack a week or two before the event with all the details, you’ll arrive on site with plenty of time to set up camp, assuming you’re planning to stay, come to registration to sign in and collect your number (if you’re staying for the SouthernXC the following day sign in for that at the same time, you’ll use the same number both days), then get you’re bike out and take to the course for some practise, remember to take your time and look for the lines that might save you a second or two, make sure you get back to start area before 4pm when the event starts, when your called forward you’ll ready to hit the course with everything you’ve got, next time we see you you’ll probably be feeling like you need new lungs, your lap time will be on the timing screen and the beer tent will be open and waiting for you, oh and 2 of you will be lucky enough to get on the hot seat, one for the ladies and one for the gents (depending on how popular this is we’ll add hot seats for 40+ riders too)
The Dirty Hot Lap will take place at two venues for 2019, both are SouthernXC venues and from 4pm on the afternoon before so if you’re racing on the Sunday you’ll also get loads of chance to practise the course before hand!
How much does it cost:

We rode the final lap together and if I’m honest Simon could have left me at any time, but being the gentleman racer he is he chose not to and let me cross the line before him. (Muchos gracious amigo! The corner crash from last year is now fully forgiven).read more
